Junior Curling

North Hill Curling Club’s junior program is a developmental program designed to introduce necessary skills and provide a barrier-free environment that aims to encourage younger generations to participate in the sport of curling.

Our junior program focuses on curlers ages 7 to 18 and welcomes curlers of any skill level.  The program's volunteer coaches and instructors work directly with recreational curlers to teach basic techniques and rules, and target specific skills for curlers looking to compete at a more competitive level.

The Club's mission is to foster inclusivity and diversity in the sport of curling by encouraging participation regardless of age, gender, ability, cultural or religious background, or sexual orientation. Whether you are a beginner, an expert, or somewhere in between, our program will cater to you.

We are excited to see you on the ice!

Practice

The North Hill Curling Club offers ice whenever available for junior curlers on a team looking for more practice time with their coach,

Practice ice is free to Club members of the  Junior Program and to those who volunteer with the Junior Program.

If you are not not a member, the cost for practice ice $15 per person per hour.

Development

There are opportunities for juniors to participate in bonspiels from the Jam Can sponsored by the Calgary Youth Curling Association for LiteRock (lighter stones) curlers, to spiels for bantam, juvenile and juniors.

The Club offers funding as a means to encourage competitive development and will also reimburse aspiring coaches in obtaining their certifications (approval should be obtained from the Club staff or Board of Directors).

The purpose of this funding is to assist competitive junior teams from the North Hill Curling Club to continue curling and compete at a competitive level. This funding is a one-time only grant of $500 to be paid to the applicant upon approval by the Club's Board of Directors / Junior Committee.

Teams applying must represent the North Hill Curling Club in Curling Alberta qualifier events.

Follow the link below for more information and details on how to apply for the development sponsorship.
