CROSS BORDER BONSPIEL – LOGISTICS

FLIGHTS

We’re big WestJet fans up here in Calgary and it’s a great option for flying in. Check periodically for seat sales as you’ve got plenty of time to book! Once you’ve arrived at the airport and gone through customs, grab a cab and enjoy the ride to your hotel.

HOTELS

We’ve secured a block of rooms at the Best Western Village Park Inn at a rate of $139 per night (based on single / double occupancy) for bookings with an arrival on or after September 2 and a departure on or before September 9.  Nightly rate includes a hot buffet breakfast, surface parking and free WiFi.  When you call to book, please let them know you’re with the North Hill Curling Club to get our preferred rate! NOTE: Cut off date for booking at the preferred rate is August 4.

WHAT TO DO

Even though Stampede is over, there’s still a lot to experience in our fabulous city. Check out the official Calgary Tourism page for some great ideas to do in town. Looking for some adventure? Consider one of the following destinations for a day trip:

  • MOUNTAINS
There’s lots to see and do while you’re here!  If you’ve got time, you’ll definitely want to plan a trip to Banff or Lake Louise and check out our glorious Rocky Mountains. Travel time to Banff is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from the curling club (Lake Louise is a further 30 minutes past that and TOTALLY worth the trip). We suggest renting a car and planning a day trip.
  • DINOSAURS
Rent a vehicle and head to Drumheller, about an hour and a half drive northeast of Calgary. Here you’ll find the Royal Tyrrell Museum, Canada’s only museum dedicated exclusively to the science of palaeontology.
  • GOLF
If you love the sport, you won’t be disappointed with the courses available both inside and outside the city.  Simply use Google to find some ideas, and please email us at cross-border@nhcc.ca if you need some advice finding a great course!
