U18 Team Program

2018/2019 Season

The North Hill Curling Club is excited to announce we will continue hosting the Curler’s Corner U18 Advanced Team Program.  The goal of the program is further developing U18 teams and their coaches.  The program is aimed at U18 teams representing the North Hill Community Curling Club in playdowns.

The program format will be changing slightly this year.  The program has secured 4 sheets of ice.  Teams will have 2 hours of practice ice every 3rd week.  If we have a guest speaker that week – teams with 2 hours of practice will either have their extra ice postponed a week or participate with the speaker at 6:30.  All schedules will be published in advance.  There is also a volunteer requirement for all participants.

We will be accepting 5 teams and 4 individual curlers who feel that they will benefit from and contribute to the program but have a valid reason for not participating as a team.

If space is available, consideration will be given to the junior and U15 teams.   More detailed information on the program is available at the following site:

Announcements

  • Volunteers needed for Junior Men’s Southern’s!!!

North Hill CC is proud to host the Junior Men's Southern qualifier on December 7th - 9th! We will need volunteers to time games and to input scores onto the Curling Alberta website. Please contact the office if you can help. Thank you!!!

  • Please help us keep the ice clean!

Always use the boot boy to clean your shoes when you arrive at the club. Also we have noticed a fair amount of hand and knee prints in the ice, please get up quickly to prevent this from happening while you watch your rock go down the ice. Thank you!

  • Five-Rock Rule is in effect this season!

We are now playing with the 5 rock rule in the FGZ as per Curling Canada rules in effect starting this season.  Under the 5-Rock rule, teams are not permitted to eliminate their opponent's rocks that are sitting in the free guard zone until five stones have been played in every end.  Players can still hit the guards; they just are not allowed to knock them out of play.
