Week-Night League

There are several categories of weekday leagues available to curlers; rental leagues (see Curling Options) and prime time evening (aka square draw or evening leagues). Evening curling leagues are administered by the Club itself and are available to the general public as well as our members. New team entry starts August 1st (on a wait-list) with existing teams having to commit by early September.  Weeknight leagues typically begin in the 3rd week of September.

Monday Open

Teams are mostly men; but a few mixed gender teams, and women's teams.

 Tuesday Open

Teams are mostly men; but a few mixed gender teams, and women's teams.

Wed Women

A league of 12 all womens' teams; most of the "night out to curl" variety.

Wed Mens

A fairly competitive men's' league of 12 teams with most having southern alberta playdown experience. Entry is by teams although singles might be able to join a team.

 Thursday Men

Teams are all men with allowances for upcoming junior teams to join upon application. Probably our strongest league.

 Friday Open

Most teams are composeed of couples out for a night of curling; although other combinations of gender exist. Likely the best league in which to begin curling.

Evening leagues run each night Monday through Friday; with alternating times of 6:50 pm and 9:00 pm. Leagues are designated as Men’s, Women’s, and Open. The leagues have been assessed as shown to assist in you finding the best choice for your curling experience. Entry is by teams although we will try to alert individuals to possible spots on a team. Should a team not be found, joining the Spares List is a good option and one which may eventually lead to joining a team.  When entering as a new team, it is best to provide a first and second choice of nights.

With the exception of Wednesday, each league consists of 24 teams divided into four sections (thus each section has six teams).  Each section plays five games and then two move up and down depending upon the points earned. There are four go-rounds in regular play (ie, 20 games) which normally conclude during the first week of March.  As for Wednesday, we have a 12 team Womens' league and a Fifty-plus league alternating between the early & late times.

Following regular season play are several categories of Club Playoffs.  For the competitive there are six categories which lead to the Calgary & Area Championships in early April.  All of these have space limitations based upon previous season's participation.  There is also a "Players' Event" open to all teams (space permitting) who are not in the any of the others.  It doesn't lead anywhere; but its fun!  More detail will be provided as we go forward.
