Youth Curling and Development

Junior Program:

The North Hill Curling Club’s Junior Program runs Fridays starting at 4:30 pm during the regular curling season. The age range for this program is 7 through 20 with instruction for both Lite and regular rock curlers. Information on our program and the application form (which can be submitted at any time) is available here. The younger curlers with little to no experience, are provided with instruction throughout the season. Depending upon numbers, the little rockers may be assigned to either a 4:30-5:30 or a 5:30 - 6:30 time slot.

The more seasoned junior curlers who throw regular rocks, are initially instructed and then curl in a 2 hour span (4:30 to 6:30). Instruction and mentoring continues through the season; however, mostly the juniors are permitted to play.

Practice & Development:

For the more competitive North Hill junior curlers, who are on a team and thus desire/require more practice time with their coach, the North Hill Curling Club offers ice on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 and at when-ever else there exists empty ice (advance booking is required in all cases).

The North Hill also offers funding as a means to encourage competitive development. This program and its application form is provided as a link and must be submitted early in the season. Teams applying must represent the North Hill in playdown events.

Juvenile Bonspiel:

The North Hill Club instituted a youth bonspiel in 1997 having both a Junior and Intermediate (now known as Juvenile) divisions. Our intent was to promote competitive curling among our youth thus developing their skills. After the first ten years, it was determined that several junior-age bonspiels were now available. Consequently, the Club decided to focus on the younger age categories.
